Plot:
Bloch (the film’s protagonist) says that when watching a football match, it’s difficult not to look at the ball and the striker, but rather to focus on the goalkeeper standing alone, waiting. Wim Wenders’ second film refuses to watch the football. Like the novella from which the film is adapted, a novel of the same name by Peter Handke, the shots and sequences, like the words and scenes of each section of the novel, present a precise and detailed description of a long wait.

Awards:
Venice Film Festival, 1972 (Winner of FIPRESCI Prize)
