Plot:
Sweden has been one of the most immigrant-friendly countries in the world, a phenomenon caused by a decrease in young labor force and a lack of interest in childbearing within society. At the same time, Sweden has tried to adopt a policy of accepting immigrants from all over the world to create a general multiculturalism in the country. Although Sweden has experienced regional unrest, mostly involving Muslim or African immigrants, in the last two decades, this film, a joint collaboration between avant-garde Russian and Swedish cinema, explores the other side of life in the Swedish welfare state. More importantly, this time the theme of rebellion against societal norms is carried out by a young girl, revealing traces of gender studies, a topic that is still somewhat sensitive or at least not without issues, even in a country like Sweden. A young girl living with her mother in the suburbs dreams of soon moving to America with her mother’s new boyfriend, but the mother leaves, abandoning the girl in a house that will soon be taken from her, and from this point on, the desire to go to Sweden enters the film’s plot.
