Plot:
Sweden, like every other country, was influenced by the “hippie” wave. However, the principles and methods of Swedish or Scandinavian “hippieism” were slightly different from many countries. Communal living and what society called an uninhibited lifestyle did not face extreme reactions, but “hippieism” was still a relatively awkward fit for society. This important film focuses on a group of young people who have decided to live by their own rules in a house. The arrival of a woman with her two children, who has experienced domestic violence, brings new adventures for them. This film was made at the beginning of the 21st century, at the height of socio-political debates surrounding immigration laws. In those years, Sweden was influenced by the discourse of whether immigrants should be completely integrated into Swedish society or embrace the not-so-clear idea of a multicultural society. Therefore, evoking the years leading up to the 70s seems perfectly timely and problematic – or critical and controversial.
